"Mop" is heard in many different bowling circles. It's been used at tournaments, during league, and amongst friends. It's been told that the word originated in New York, where bowling is extremely popular, and has been for many years. Today, you may even hear PBA star Patrick Allen use the word from time to time. It's a friendly term, used to greet ("What's up Mop?") or congratulate ("Yeah Mop!").
